Zoom function on Iphone 4 video

I have been given an iphone 4 and am just learning how to use it. My daughter has a concert tomorrow and I want to be able to video it but cant figure out how to work the zoom function. Any ideas or would I need an app. Any recommendations would be great thanks :)
