I have a 96 polo and there is a problem with it starting. When I try to start it
it just clicks then eventually does nothing. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. The alternator, starter motor, battery were all recently replaced. It did have a push button put in as well which you use to start it along with the key, don't really know if that makes a difference. The lights and everything turn on aswell even though it wont start. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

I had a similar problem during the week in my 99 punto and I replaced the starter motor now it starts. try ht leads, a good engine service. not sure after that.

Not the problem if it won't turn over

Probably the cause. Remove the battery terminals the wires on the starter motor and the earth strap. Make sure all of the mating surfaces are clean and then tighten all the connections.

Polo's of that vintage had big problems with the electrical part of the ignition switch. Thats prob why you have a push button installed. I would check switch and button wiring.
