Birds and home alarm systems

For the past while I've been considering getting a bird, or birds, as a pet/pets.

I have had Budgies in the past, and I'm considering getting something smaller this time, like a couple of finches, or canaries.

Last night, while I was going to bed, my alarm tripped. It doesn't happen very often, but it is loud. Naturally I'm used to the sound, as is my wife, kids and the dog. But should I be concerned about that sort of noise and something as small as a finch?

Has anyone had experience with birds reactions to loud alarms?
