Hi, I want to do my first marathon in 2014, using barefoot running shoes, but wanted to get some coaching so I don't wreak myself incase I'm doing it wrong.

Any suggestions? I found only this online:
    http://forgetthegym.ie/what-we-do/1-2-1-coaching/

Is it even worth while doing 1-2-1 coaching? would a class be better?

I have done 2 10k's already - so long way to go...

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

    thanks,
    Justin

Catherina McKiernan does workshops pretty regularly and she's a fan of 'barefoot' running. Google her name with chi running and you'll get the site with the details

Also look into "Pose running" not sure who is a good coach over here but if they have the pose qualification then its generally a good sign

Go for a few one to one class's as this is something that needs to be done right and built upto slowly especially with the distances your planning on doing.

    Cheers

Without going into the barefoot debate and asking why you want to do barefoot running this seems to be the kinda thing you are looking for:

Have been to a few of talks workshops and have to say even though I am anti barefoot, these guys seem to take one of the more sensible approaches to the idea as well as knowing their stuff with regards training methodology (coaches who are members of the Lydiard Foundation)

    Hey Justin,

Why not aim for a 5k first if running barfoot/minimal is the way you want to go?
Why put pressure on yourself to run a marathon barefoot?
How far have you ran barefoot in one run ?
Championseverywhere would be the right guys to go to if you want to go barefoot.
Good luck but take it step by step instead of rushing into a marathon.

One last question what is the furthest you have ran before?
