I'd say this is what happens when you allow a douche to be in a position of power over peoples liberty. No affront to humanity has ever occurrred in a state run prison? Really?

It was run by Sodexo...a catering and contract cleaning business...Jesus who thought that would be a good idea...

    Where did I say that?

Simply put though, does introducing the profit motive to an arm of the justice system seem like a great plan to you?

Too late I'm afraid. Prisons have always had budgets, they've always crammed, skimmed and cut to meet them. All that's changing is the instigator of the cramming, skimming and cutting. I'm not a fan of Prison anyway, I spent a few years working in Prisoner rehabilitation and I think it is a hardening, de-humanising and cruel environment regardless. Personally, I'd either fine you or shoot you, depending on the severity of the crime. Locking you in a little room for years seems overly harsh. And pretty pointless.

Running to budget and running for profit are two different things...

This is a clear cut case of the State abdicating its responsibilities - they're also privatizing parts of the police force over there, which I'm sure will work out well...

I know. Next they'll be privatizing the water us non-criminals need to drink to survive. Where will it end?

There are so many quotation marks and use of the word 'allegedly' in that article. This deliberately sensationalised rubbish gives me a headache. I mean the whole article is practically a quote from a lawyer representing the woman The guy is paid to lie about what happened. The only thing that is shocking about this story is that it passed a sub-editor's desk without being binned.

I realise the woman is in jail but that is just disgraceful. Must have been so traumatic for her.

So what exactly would've happened if she refused to clean it up?

Who can say? Institutions have many ways of punishing people who are disobedient.

I slipped up just there reading this one here.

I have in the past suffered from deep depression, and do ye know what ?...

I stopped reading the tabloids from the news vender, and I have stopped reading online news, and do ye know what ?... I'm a new man since I gave it all up, clear in good thinkings, and more happier living in my own un-infiltrated sparseness of awareness and blossomness of peace without caving my brain in with reading about mad/crazy/mental nuttinesses.

    The world is insane.
