Ulster name an unchanged side going in to the second game of the Heineken Cup pool stage double header against Treviso. Ulster won 48-0 last week in a trouncing of their Italian opponents with tries from Luke Marshall, John Afoa, Andrew Trimble, Paddy Jackson, Sean Doyle and Dan Tuohy.

A similar result this week would go down well, but no doubt Ulster will be happy with just a win. Should results go their way this weekend with an Ulster win and a Montpellier win over Leicester (with no bonus points) then Ulster would be on course to have a chance to seal qualification from the pool with their 5th pool game at home to Montpellier, leaving the final pool game away to Leicester as a chance to secure a home quarter final.

A loss in last seasons second double header fixture against Northampton is seen by many as the game that upset Ulster's season. They will not want to make the same mistake again - going to Leicester needing a win is not a situation Ulster will want to be in.

Treviso will undoubtedly be hacked off at the beating they took last week and may look to put in a performance against the Ulster men tomorrow.

    Prediction
    Ulster win but no TBP

Think that should read home quarter final rather than semi-final. Agree that Ulster should win but almost certainly will be a tighter contest than last week. If Ulster can score a couple of tries early on a BP win is on the cards but any win keeps them in pole position in the group.

With Montpellier naming a weekened team think the pressure is on us to get 5 points which will be harder than last week.

Just saw Wynand Olivier is playing for Montpellier now.

Oh dear, this game is only on the red button. Guess that means I'll have to go to the pub to watch it! :)

BBC Radio Ulster says the game should go on but not 100% sure.

Well... Can you even see the posts from the 22

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Ulster not saying anything on twitter for 30 minutes. Must be going ahead.

The poem at the start of coverage was class.

You'd imagine the conditions would act as a bit of a leveller between the sides, not great for Ulster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Really hard to see on the TV. Hopefully it is better for the players!

Match coverage is also on Radio BBC Ulster.

Seems to be visibility of about 5-10 meters for the players. Might be tricky for goalkickers mind

    Good break by Gilroy there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Bright start by Ulster. Nice handling, and I think they have the upper hand in the scrum. Just won a penalty, Jackson to have a pot (commentator having trouble seeing who was taking the kick!)......which he gets. 3 - 0 Ulster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Great kick from Jackson. I thought my screen was the blink when i switched this on, can't see a thing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭OldRio

    Jackson with first points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Commentators say it is easier to see down on the pitch!!

  • Administrators Posts: 54,423 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Can barely see a thing :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭Kanrith

    Quite a sloppy scrum there.

Cant see a thing-- feels like I'm watching a new sport here!

Lots of errors. Not a great spectacle so far.....which seems to suit Treviso better than Ulster.

I'm finding it hard to maintain interest in this....thinking of switching to the other match. Oh wait, I HEAR there's something happening. Penalty for Treviso. 3 - 3.

    This is a terrible game

    Anyone thinking of switching over?

Awful stuff. But Ulster have a fight on their hands here. Good scrum win agains the head for Ulster there.....which eventually leads to Marshall going over for what looks like a try.

    Marshall try I think

Decent try that, awful match mind but what can you expect in those conditions. Ulster donning some training bibs might help matters from a viewers perspective mind

Bibs would help, certainly. Jackson gets penalty on half time 11 - 3 to Ulster.
