Having a quick chat about my breakfast the other morning, because Im continuously hungry in the morning, and according to a colleague, my porridge may be bad for me ...

I eat flahavans quick oats and goji berries, but supposidly the microwave oats are full of salt and sugar ...

Any alternatives (quick wise) and any tips to feel a bit more full until half 10 or 11 ?

Just buy normal porridge! It works just as well in the microwave. Besides, quick oats are just the same as porridge - there are no added ingredients.

Had a quick google and found these. What exactly is the one you are eating?

Tbh, I used to keep a big bag of ordinary Aldi porridge in my drawer at work and that is 'quick' enough for me.

Just look at the ingredients, is there any added salt or sugar?

I think generally "microwavable" oats are rolled finer to cook quicker. Ready Brek probably has added sugar though.

If you find the ordinary porridge isn't soft enough, then just have it sitting in the bowl with the water and/or milk from the time you go in until you eat it. That'll soften the oats a bit.

Buy some milled seeds and sprinkle a few scoops on top after cooking. It will help you feel full longer.

Ready brek doesn't have sugar. Oat and vitamins.

Wholegrain Rolled Oats (60%), Wholegrain Oat Flour (38%), Calcium, Niacin, Iron, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B6, Thiamin (B1), Folic Acid, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12.

Have tried oat bran? Very filling due to the higher fiber content.

I tried eating porridge so many times, but I'd end up ravenous about an hour later. I spent a long time wondering what was wrong with me - other people say that porridge fills them up til lunch time - but for me that just didn't work. So I stopped eating it and now I eat something with protein / fat - meat, fish, eggs and don't have any problem with hunger. In fact I had fish this morning at 10.00 and haven't eaten since (it is now 3.50pm)

    add in some crushed nuts
    or hemp seed

or just have a boiled/poached egg with the porridge

and your work colleague hasn't a clue.
    what did they suggest? Frosties!

    75% flav's (organic) oats
    + 10% multi-seed-mix (organic) (millet/spelt/hemp/flax etc..)
    + 1% sprinkle of cinnamon
+ 1% sprinkle of (atlantic) sea salt
+ 1% sprinkle of pine pollen
    (pre-mix all in container)
+ 2% wee dash of acacia honey on top
+ pour on 10% almond (organic) milk

take cold in big ole cup (do not subject to 2.4ghz waves ...just ask the ruskies). Surely dis is simply the best, healthiest, fastest, and cheapest near raw brunch/anytime snack you can have on the planet :)

I make my Aldi Porridge with milk (only milk for the day as I don't drink tea or coffee) in the microwave & then chop in a bananna & add 5/6 whole almonds, stir well & leave for 5 mins, it's so yummy & creamy.

Often I don't bother eating again until evening (I know I shouldn't) as I wouldn't feel hungry, especially if out of the house - if at home I could graze all day long.

Maybe oat cakes with a bit of peanut butter not a bad alternative to the hassle and nuisance that is making a bowl of porridge :D.

Eggs and oats all the way. Raw oats into the raw eggs, stir with fork for a few seconds, then bung into the pan for 5 mins. Flip over for another 2-3 mins.

If you need some more fats, maybe some cashews or natural peanut butter down the hatch would help.

Those valuable 2 or 3 minutes stirring that's needs to be done plus maybe an extra minute to let it cool down. Nuisance level ...3.
