I like eating out but it can be an expensive game so tend not to do it as much as I want.

    How about yourself?

Once a week...lunch with the Mrs and our kid in a cafe every Saturday...

Try to go to a nice restaurant once a month for dinner but haven't been out since August

I think I'm your polar opposite.

I eat out a lot but would never go to a carvery as first choice and would always try to go at less busy times.

I don't know, how often do I cook for myself? maybe once every three weeks?
That said I have breakfast and lunch in the canteen in work, grab a burger king most nights or meet friends, or else just drink some milk for dinner, one dominos at the weekend does me both days for three meals I get a large, yes I need to sort out my diet in Jan!

About once a month for nice meal somewhere. I like to try different places as much as I can, and I'm lucky that in Wexford (for its size) we have some great resteraunts (if you are ever here try Cistin Eile - look up Tom Dooleys review or Tripadvisor)

It's a nice treat and always an experience.

Was in Manchester last week for the Everton game and sat in a Thai resteraunt called Chaophraya for about 4 and half hours, just enjoying as much food as I could. Everyone should do it if you can.

Had a pot noodle in the back yard earlier. Does that count?

'Bout twice a week. Reasonably decent pub grub. Not carvery though. Carvery sucks.
"Right, there's a table. You hold the table and I'll get my dried-up ****e food. Then, when I come back, I'll mind the table while you go up. My lunch will be half gone when you get back, so I'll stare at my watch while you finish your over cooked crappola."
Rinse and repeat if you want dessert.

You got to try a different pub.

Proper sit down meal is very rare, maybe once or twice a year. Fast food maybe once a month. Just can't justify the cost.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,987 ✭✭✭Legs.Eleven

I'd have a proper sit down meal about once a month or once every 5 weeks. I love it but like keeping the novelty of it so don't go out too much.

I'd sit down in a restauranty bar place for some wine and snacks every week though.

Usually about once or twice a month somewhere decent.

We have a bad habit though of heading from the gym to Wetherspoons on a Thursday for £6.49 curry and a pint...

Probably have a sit down meal out about 2 to 3 times per week.

up untill a few weeks ago about 2 times a week, usually a sat & sun, after having a takeaway on a friday. then i realised we spend as much on one meal and drinks as we do on our weekly shop in aldi!

Usually 2 times a day, though I'm in China and a rice, meat and sauce dish will cost about 1. 50 euro in a decent enough place.

Cheap enough western food place too, pasta, coffee and a prawn cheese wrap would cost about 6 quid, if I'm feeling fancy.

About once a week. Nothing up market. Just to the local bar and restaurant or to the one in the next village. Sometimes I might pick a place in town but the local establishments are my favourite.

I need to get away once a week on my own. I love eating a meal in peace and quite and not rush it down. I love sitting with the paper or ipod and wifi or book after dinner with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and sometimes a dessert. I would sit for hours and I love it.

I don't eat probably during the week. I rush meals or skip them. Sometimes a cup of tea would be the only thing I would have for lunch. Last week I packed lunch for work consisting of crackers and cheese and a can of rice pudding. Whatever that was in the house. Came home from work still carrying it in my handbag and carried it around all week intending to it but never got around to it.

It's great to get away once a week and sit down in front of a meal and not rush it or walk away from it.

I eat out often before I was single as i hate to cook myself. I seldom eat out now coz i got a gf who has skills for cooking.

I find that my standard of cooking is higher than nearly all of restaurants where I live (the restaurants are really bad!).

There are a few in Dublin that I love but its a load of hassle and the cost is too much so I would rather spend the money on good quality ingredients and make something at home... plus I can wear my lounge pants with an extra wide waist.

    My last weekend meal was:

Starter: Panfried asparagus with crispy parma ham, crushed roasted hazelnuts a light vinaigrette with a poached egg on top

Main: Halibut Bourguignon on a bed of roasted mashed celeriac with savoy cabbage

    Dessert: cheesecake with raspberry compote

    Wine: lidl sancerre

Probably cost about €40 in total (fish being the most expensive part) and it was delicious :-)

boojum - belfast , dublin and galway - mexican food for around a fiver

eat there at least once a week

mongolian kitchen in dublin , again around a fiver for lunch

Benedicts in belfast have a beat the clock offer , go at 6 and pay 6 quid for a great dinner out

then you have early birds etc

eating out can be done on a budget , just plan ahead and use offers etc

often can be cheaper than eating at home!

    :D

In fairness that is a piece of piss to make and compared to going out, quite inexpensive. It's a treat that I would do maybe once or twice a month.

You can do lovely dishes with sausages too :-)

It's more how fattening it is that stops me from doing it too often. Plus, it loses its appeal if done too often. Once or twice a month for me.

Around once a month, usually with a groupon deal.

  • Quite a bit. I go to really nice/upscale restaurants 2-3 times a year for birthdays etc, but eat out of the house maybe 3-4 days a week. We usually have a meal on Fridays after the pub (employer pays for drinks so we save money there), sometimes go out on Saturday as well and then a couple of smaller meals midweek (burrito, burger, Korean food etc).

We are trying to cut down because we spend far too much on eating out, but it's actually really hard not to in London. We both work 9-6 and then have stuff on most evenings, so going home to eat isn't really an option. Would much prefer just to go for a really nice meal once a week than burritos etc, which really add up at about £6 a go.

I would get a take out maybe once a month.

Eating in a proper restaurant... once in a blue moon, would love to more but don't have the cash.

Pub grub maybe once a month too.
