    Hi,

    We are getting married on New Years Eve & was wondering how do we sort out tax issues for next year.
    Im currently unemployed so want to transfer all my credits to my partner?

    just ring Revenue and ask to have your personal tax credit and band transferred to your husband

    Are you on job seekers benefit or allowance? benefit can be taxable

    You cannot transfer all of your credits to your partner. When you opt for joint assessment you can transfer 9000 worth of your rate band and your personal tax credit of 1650. You retain your paye credit and the remainder of your rate band. Depending on your circumstances your partner may be entitled to claim the home carers tax credit.
    In order to be jointly assessed for 2014 you must apply in writing via an IT2 form.
