Caught the last 10 minutes of the interview. Very interesting and I never knew. (Not that it makes a difference)

Spoke well as always, a decent man who doesn't take himself too seriously, loves his gig - enjoyable interview

I'm still too angry to listen , he did us no favours in the second half, in particular that last decision - Im a bad loser

That last decision was spot on. I could see it coming three or four phases out but was hoping we'd get away with it.

Nigel likes a game to flow, he doesn't interrupt that flow too much and he is always even handed. He's the last person I'd blame for that result. Best ref in the world currently imo.

A great interview from a great man.

He is without doubt the fairest and best ref in the game at the moment.

    Just listening to it now.

He's definitely one of the top referees in the business, if not the best. He is always fair and equal to both sides. He doesn't get every call right, but no one does.

As for the last game, nah, can't fault his decision. He does his best.

I suppose the biggest compliment for Owens is that when I look to see who is officiating a match in which a team I'm following is playing in and I see that it is Nige, I'm delighted.

You cannot have a Nigel Owens thread without one of the classics.
You will have to follow the link on Youtube. Not sure how to get the screen on here.

    Enjoy

His best trait is his ability to communicate with the players and dictate in a clear and concise manner what he wants to see.

Point and Barnes could learn a huge amount from him in this matter.

For example, for "that" decision" v the ABs, he was clearly telling the players to stay on their feet for the 4 or 5 rucks previously.

we didnt get one decision in the second half , NZ did much similar to mcgrath and didnt get pinged - everyone else seams to think he is great here, I'm still pissed

OK, well that's totally wrong. We had a penalty that Sexton missed for one.

Think it was last sunday's paper he was interviewed in.

He was reffing a club game - newport v some english side.

He said austin healy had been chirping in his ear all game.

At one scrum healy says "whose scrum ref?"

    Owens replies...."ours"

    Class.

Anyone know if this will be up on the player? Takes them a few days usually doesn't it?

Nigel Owens is going to be on the John Murray show this morning.

My current favourite ref. Doesn't take himself too seriously, nice banter, even-handed, and best of all a ref who has a feel for the game and what the fans want to see.

It would be possible to call an infringement or penalty at just about every facet of play - but that ruins a match entirely. Owens gets the balance right IMO.

Would love to know if/ how he enjoys watching games nowadays.

Nigel allows a lot on the ground, isn't concerned about the offside line at all and if its wet he'll generally just allow a free for all. But that leads to games like Ireland V New Zealand and New Zealand V South Africa this year.

Great ref who uses fair minded common sense more than blind adherence to the laws. Always a more enjoyable game for the spectator as a result.

Listened to that interview last night. He is a class guy. I love it when I see he is reffing a match with Ireland/Leinster involved - he's fair, and he lets the game flow.
