Masters student-- When can I sign on from?

I am currently doing a taught masters so no grant or anything. Just wondering when will I be able to sign on from, I have to complete a two week summer school end of may/june(actually 8 days) instead of a thesis. I also have exams the start of May. But lectures finish up on 4th of April, so could I sign-on then? as…

But lectures finish up on 4th of April, so could I sign-on then? as technical I am free. I know students on research masters can actually claim welfare, that's why I am asking.
