Just said Id ask on here for a family member. When you are looking for an instructor what should you look out for. He has it narrowed down to two. One of them is fairly cheap, and when you look at the facebook literally everyday hes congratulating someone- but of course he gets a helluva lot of customers so a bit of a numbers game. THe second fella has a lot of certs behind (ADI is the only one I can remember), hes actually quite expensive but he reckons its because the certs and he said his students would have a very high pass rate and reckons the other cheaper place could end taking you for up to 17-18 lessons before finally passing. But obviously hes going to say that. Bit of a conumdrum hes in at the minute. 1) What certs should an instructor have? Which ones are good? 2) Do the certs really mean anything?

From my point of view word of mouth is the best way when choosing a driving instructor, I've had MANY instructors over the years and to be honest I didn't like most of them so I posted in the 'Searching for a driving instructor' thread at the top of this forum, someone suggested an instructor they used and found great, I passed my test a few months later, can't beat word of mouth.

As for the certificates I'm not sure about that end.

    This.

He does have the option of trying a lesson with each, see how he felt about them and decide based on that. There must be someone in the area who could give him a recommendation though.
