Joint Breaks & the return to training

I recently suffered a fractured humerus, just over two weeks ago. They said it was a bad enough break. Finally received surgery on Saturday gone (almost two weeks after incident), so am now on the slow road to recovery. What sucks the most is that I was making serious progress with my routine and diet for the last few months, and of course ill be completely out of action for the next few months. I drum too, double-bummer wha?

I guess my question is, have any of you experienced similar injuries, and how long was it before you were back in the gym? I know that of course this differs, but roughly? More importantly, and my biggest concern, is long-term damage. Has anyone's training ever suffered subsequently and irreparably due to breaks and the like? Is it common? Im scared

I broke my index finger once. And tore my medial ligaments pretty badly. Not sure if I've anything useful for you. I strapped it up and got through a taekwondo grading though. At this point I'd like to apologise for the conspiracy against you.

If you're lonely get a dog.

Everyone is different. I broke my wrist. It's now stronger than it was before I broke it.

Thanks. I appreciate that everyone is different, I'm just trying to see what peoples experiences with similar incidents have been with regards to training. That's reassuring about your wrist at least! My cat would not be happy with a dog around

It'll be less happy that you rate it's companionship so lowly.

Haha, are you serious? Trolling about a broken limb, so much entertainment for me. Good man

No way of knowing what timeframe you are looking at without seeing your xrays and surgery notes.

However the gym will play Big part in your recovery so take some solace in that. also no harm in hopping on the exercise bike once the swelling is under control.
