Car Insurance Rough Quotes?

Is there any site that will give you a quick quote that you can use to say roughly how much your insurance will be? Im 29 on a provisional and havent decided what car to get yet, it will probably be small, 1 litre or maybe a bit bigger if I could find any info on how much difference that will make, never had insurance or any driving history before.

My problem is is that even if I do go to the hassle of filling out a full quote form on a website, usually 3 pages of info, you get to the end and it just says "Sorry we cant find any...", most of them want the reg of the car I havent even found yet aswell.

Total beginner to this as you've probably guessed, any help appreciated.

Some of them do quick quotes, but honestly they arent worth a damn (you wont get anything form that asks for nothing more than gender, age, engine size and county).

Even the full online quotes arent wonderful, but its the best youre going to get online. If you need a reg number then have a look on Carzone/DoneDeal for a picture of a similar car with the reg showing.

Im guessing its age and learner permit thats causing you a problem? Best thing to do might be to ring them and lead the conversation with that. I do this when looking for quotes for my car; before I give them any information I tell them Im looking to insure a JDM Integra, and at least if they cant do it then the call ends there and then.

    Go to a broker.
They will be happy to search for different quotes on different cars for you!

How much do you think Ill be paying? Car will be registered down in rural Galway, I dont know anything about cars so will be making a thread later on the cheapest way to get on the road for one person no kids so some little Saxo or something probably, will I get away with less than a grand do you think? Minimum driving distance per year, 29 years old, no driving or insurance history at all.

Nobody can answer that question for you; you need to go onto Carzone/DoneDeal, find some cars that you like the look of then get onto insurers and start getting some quotes.

You dont have a license or experience/a NCB; Id be very surprised if you get insured for anything close to a grand unfortunately.

Could 2 grand be a possibility? Just looking for ballpark starting out, where do you get this information?

https://www.chill.ie/ have a fairly quick quote system. But for me when I go through and get the full quote it is usually about 20% more than the quick.

For the car reg I just find a model I'm thinking of buying on donedeal and use that reg.

http://www.firstireland.ie/index-2-personal-car-quote.php are almost always a good bit cheaper than chill for me.

To check various cars. Go through the full process once and get a quote. They'll send you an email with the quote, then to check various other cars just click "amend quote" in the email and you'll just have to enter the other cars details rather than go through the whole process again.

i always put in that I've a full licence as I don't plan to get my own insurance until I pass the test.

What do you mean by this sorry? Is there a way to do this cheaper than I am doing it right now?

Well at the moment I'm just a named driver on my fathers car, on his policy. Insurance was very cheap for this.

I'm not going to get my own car and my own insurance policy untill I have the full driving licence. So when getting quotes I put in that I've a full one.

Ah right, I need to get a practice car, cant seem to pass the test even though multiple driving instructors said I was fine on the pretests, just wish there was somewhere to get information like this.

    Well for example using firstireland.

1.4 2003 corolla. No ncb or driving experience. Learner permit.

A few years older than you. €1279.08

The same with a full licence. €844.53

I know but I spent a fcuking fortune on lessons, I dont know how many but at least 30 or more, passed every pretest I took with 3 instructors, at the end they were just giving me a pretest every lesson because my driving was perfect but I just fail the test every time I do it, don't know whats wrong and I need to get a car now.

They tell you where you went wrong after the test. Try working on where you went wrong and you'll save yourself hundreds (possibly) on insurance when you pass the test.
