2 months ago I opened up a thread asking people to help me with my CV, I took everyone's wonderful advice and edited my CV.
Now comes the time where I have to go job hunting(transition year, work experience)
and I have not touched my CV since 2 months ago.

I went around a few shops today and they told me to bring my CV, the only problem is do I bring a cover letter as well even though they did not tell me ??

Now I do not know if my CV is good enough now, I had changed a few bits and pieces but something inside of me says this is not correct, before I hand it up.

I had attatched my CV, with unkown names and details.
Please check if you have time.
    Thanks

For the market part of the work experience I had worked with my dad, but I wrote that down for my referees as well, would that be suitable, or shall I put in the bank programme run in the school instead ??

So far I have went to a pharmacy and carphone ware house who both asked for the CV, and I wish to give them the one which I had attached, is it suitable ??

    Just on the formatting -
3 pages is too long, bring it down to 2 pages - you could put your name and contact details up the top, (near CV), in smaller letters
    Don't use underline
Try and use consistent bullets throughout (no arrows)
Change the font, Times NR comes across as a bit old fashioned

If you have a look if possible at the CV templates in Microsoft Word, you could download one of those.
Don't use your Dad as a reference if possible, is there anyone else at the company you can use.

No, my dad is a market trader self employed :(
So I cannot use someone else, maybe use my uncles name(he used to do the same job with my dad, they used to work in the same town.)
Or I can use the bank experience as a reference ??

Hi, generally you would not use a family member as a reference and as a transition year student seeking work experience, it's the School Principal (or an alternatively a teacher/transition year school rep) that they will be interested in contacting.
So leave the School Principal and add the School Bank representative/or transition year rep.

On the 'profile statement' - your box on Page 1 with the statement about you, you need to state clearly that you are a transition year student seeking work experience, and what hours/number of days/weeks you would be available for and why you would welcome the opportunity to gain experience in the retail sector (and it is fine to state there that you have worked with a family member in this sector).

Yes OP do a cover letter. I have lost count of the number of CV's I receive with nothing else - just the CV in the envelope!! We are a big place - no idea what kind of role they are looking for, full time, part time etc. Bugs the cr** out of me!
