Lost my car keys out on a drunken night over the weekend. Tried the spare key but it won't start the car, am thinking this is something with the immobilser? Was also having issues with my car battery over the past few week, tried jump starting but no joy? Is it possible that battery is so dead it's beyond jump starting or more likely that it's an issue with immobilser?

Is it the original spare key of the car? If it is not the original spare key then it is possible that it was made up to only open the car as opposed to getting it coded to the car's immobiliser.

Is the car making any noise when you turn the key? If it is it could be a dying battery.

You could always try to bump start it if you've a few people around, if the key is coded to the car it'll start if it doesn't start the key isn't coded.

Yes it's the original spare key! The radio and lights are both working. Yes, it makes a noise when I start the key, not a very healthy noise mind you.

What year is the car? We have a 2011 Ibiza, and the spare key can start it.

If you take the key to a locksmith they can tell you if there is a problem with the immobilizer chip!
