personally think they are great tractors. 4 cylinder versions go up to 170 hp now. generally the 4 cylinder tractors are pretty bulletproof as the gear box and backend are the same as for the bigger tractors. the older models( 6000 and 8000 series) were a little hard on the clutch packs in the power shift but not too bad. also if one has had a front loader on it you would want to check the front axle as they are prone to wear. if buying one for a loader you would be best to buy from 2003 onwards( hi tech2) as the shuttle is on the steering column. massive lift on them for smallish tractors, saw one once carrying a 5 sod reversible no bother. engine generally very trouble free, was talking a guy to day who has 1 with 14000 hours on it and going like a clock. pm me if youwant any more info.

Are they a Massey in disguise?

The FIL got one a few years ago and hates the sight of it. It's tied into a finance deal so will need to keep it for another while. It has had loads of issues since he got it which is very annoying. He was fairly disappointed as he heard very good things about them beforehand.

over rated, uncomfortable and controls are outdated in them. their tied in the agco group that where the relation with massey is coming from!

You either love them or hate them it seems.

The one common thing though is the superior engine, it says it all when MF is ditching Perkins in favour of Sisu IMV.

i think that perkins engine was underrated in the masseys! i know of a 6480 with 8000hrs never had any trouble and is very handy on juice for the hp its puting out! its teir 3!

a neighbour has a valtra t130 and cant keep diesel in it!
