Sound myself watching the 2nd season on netflix at the weekend i find it to be brain dead TV but good brain dead stuff LoL. Like i am a fan of pawn stars i know its as fake as you get and comic book man is the same but is there any other fans of the show here ?

I love the round tables between the show where everyone sits down and jokes about the stuff i can say its very funny with the stuff they can come out with

Ya, I been watching this. Its just easy tv.

I wonder how much of it is staged though - like when someone with something good comes in are they asked to hang around a while or call back in a few days so we can film it?

Very easy TV to watch basic switch of your brain and you will enjoy it. I was shocked how much stuff i now know about comic books because of it LoL

I say a lot of it like all these shows are staged like. I say as well they are told to come back when they have something cool to sell so that they can film it.

Like last night i was watching the EPP with the xmen from the 1970s that was worth about $450 and they refused $350 on it. Later in the show they sold it for $420 so its pretty staged but good easy TV

very staged but very good show like the episode where they go to some guy's house who has his basement converted into a batcave and home theatre set up.

does anyone know what Brian Johnson does for a living besides sit in the store and read comics all day?

He does a weekly podcast with Walt and another guy called 'Tell em' Steve Dave'. It's very good.

As far as I know, the producers put word out on various sites for people to apply to be filmed, and then they arrange for them to come on certain days and stuff. That way the producers can filter out timewasters or people with stuff they've had before or wouldn't be interested in and schedule people for filming so they don't all arrive at once. But the guys aren't told about what's coming in (unless it's something particularly special or unique), only the producers know. Then there'll be kinda free days where they deal with normal customers looking for fairly typical stuff. The side stories (like going to the guy's house with the Batcave or the Storage Wars type stuff) are also pre-arranged (sometimes with input or suggestions from the guys) but not scripted.

As for Bryan, he's rarely ever at the store when not filming, and doesn't really read comics either. Looks after his niece (the one he got the zombie tattoo of) on weekends and sometimes I think helps out at her school during the week, but no job or anything. I think he's written a few scripts for TV shows but they've never been made.

Walt & Bry's podcast with Q from Impractical Jokers (another excellent show) is great though. One of my weekly favourites.

Very rarely will i laugh out loud at a comedy show, but I nearly wet myself watching the first episode of impractical jokers.

Some of the stuff they do has had me in tears, and that rarely happens.

Saw this thread and said I'd give it a shot and I've really enjoyed it. Some genuinely funny banter between the guys in the shop and great characters as well.
