Any one know if there is any insurance companies that will cover a learner permit driver for 24-48 hours in someone else's car?
Looking for insurance just to cover me just for Xmas day to do the few rounds

Learner permit in someone else's car for a day or two?
I wouldn't think so but maybe someone else does.

could you be added as a named driver to the owners policy?

Pretty sure no one in Ireland does short term insurance i.e. Less than a fixed block of 3, 6 or 12 months. In the UK, you can get daily insurance. I remember a good few threads of people looking for it when working / emigrating here short term, I also looked for it myself and couldn't find anyone. Also, I'd say your a no-go on a learner permit anyway. In all instances, probably cheaper to rent an instructors car because even if you could get insurance, it certainly will not be cheap.

Ireland is unique in Europe when it comes to insurance and certainly not for the better. Its crazy that you cannot get a weeks insurance as I often have the need for it without the hassle of having to transfer my own.
