dna_leri's 800m is my performance of the year, a National age group record is extremely impressive.

Surprisingly not much talk about this one!!

I think this will be a runaway winner and deservedly so; not just because of her progress through these logs (4:29 to 2:57 marathon in 2.5 years) but more because of just how good a performance Claralara's 2:57:30 Marathon was from a standalone viewpoint.

Look at her races in the last few months of the build up to DCM; all good performances in their own right (and all PBs) but none indicating she was capable of a 2:57 marathon.

    5k 18:47 (mcmillan predicts a 3:03 Marathon)
    10k 39:23 (Mcmillan says high 3:04)
    10mile 64:32 (3:01:09)
    HM 85:34 (3:00:05)

Now you may spot that performances generally improve as the distance increases and a lot of us (myself included) felt CL would sneak under the 3 hours based on her strength for the longer distances but I doubt even her own coach TRR would have predicted a 2:57....It should also be noted the course and conditions for DCM were much tougher than any of the above races (mainly given the wind on the day) so that gives the performance from a time perspective even further weight.

Forgetting about time and look at the race from a competitive standpoint. 4 ladies finished within a minute behind CL and she passed 3 of these in the second half of the course. Those up ahead in the top 8 positions were always well ahead and never within sight, so it is fair to say CL achieved the best result possible on the day of 9th position. That result in our national marathon is some achievement given the depth of the field.

For all these reasons (stating the obvious) Claralara easily deserves to be awarded performance of the year in my opinion.

I don't think you can compare any of them. I'd leave the choices as they are. There's no clear winner. All impressive results, not to mention there's two Irish records above in that list. I think every single person pushed their limits in the above.

    Well done all.

I thought enduros top 20 in UTMB was superb. Wonder where he would place that performance compared to the 72?

KU and KC performance pretty bloody savage too considering the progression from 3:06 to 2:37 of KU in a short period and KC's huge sustained dedication over years, getting every possible minute out've himself.

I'm delighted just to make the shortlist here to be honest!

Has to be dna_leri's 2:02 for 800m. Closest in percentage terms to the world record than the other performances.

and they were holding hands all through the race, which can't have been easy :)

I hate choosing between this great set of performances, but I have to go for Claralara. I know, the marathon (especially DCM) sometimes gets a kicking for being a mass participation event rather than a competitive event, but at the front of the field it is a race. 9th woman in the national marathon, and first finisher for the national bronze-medal winning team, is a fantastic accomplishment.

Definitely one of my best ever results, possibly the best.

I found it very hard to choose between ClaraLara's performance and dna_leri's 800m national record. If Enduro's UTMB performance had been nominated, it would have been a three way tie for me (more because the race/performance appeals more than the 72 hour). As it is, I can't remember which one I voted for, which is probably just as well - all very noteworthy performances.

Top 20 in the UTMB is incredible. Especially for someone who comes from a country with no altitude.

The one you voted for should be in italics in the list. At least Claralara's is on my list :)

Lots of top performances there. I don't feel worthy to be the list. If I hear of anyone voting for me, I'll be forced to write a strongly worded letter to them on the back of a €20 note. *cough* *ahem*:rolleyes::rolleyes:
