    Howdy everyone

Askin out of curiosity more than anything. I recently bought a 05 focus lx it has a sunroof, cruise control, xenon headlights, 17 inch alloys and a quick clear heated front windscreen!! Was wondering were any of these a standard spec on my focus or is it just a lucky spec!!

Weren't standard on an LX (At least not that I remember!). Sure it's an LX? Heated screen was standard in them, but everything else would be an extra.

It has the lx badge on the back so i pretty sure.

I'm fairly sure that the Ghia model was the only to get Cruise as standard at that time.

They weren't standard afaik. The lx is the bog spec, looks like you got lucky and bought off someone who liked their extras!

Id say i just got one so that the original buyer must have got some of the extras. Cheers for the info

There was an LX pack with alloys, cruise and fogs at the time but nothing like that. I've seen a few white focus LX estates doing the rounds with xenon headlights if it's one of them. Seem to all have Carlow reg plates.

The dealer i bought it off said an old retired fella traded it in to a new focus, very lucky id say, car was only on sale 1 day when i spotted it!!

It could be one of the original cars that Ford ordered with extras as a new model.

    Its hardly Cork reg?

It's probably a Ford Ireland demo, especially if its registered early-ish in the year.

Ford would have ordered odd spec as demos to show off the cars, especially in their first yesr of sale.

I think thats more than likely what it is.

Differently got lucky so it only has small milage aswell on it aswell, do ya no if metallic paint was standard on any of the focus models

Metallic is never standard (unless its a 6 pot BMW) so it would have been an option.

Most people would tick that box though.

When the Mk2 Focus was launched they offered a special edition model based on the LX, it was known as the LX First Edition. It came with cruise control, quick clear windscreen, unique alloy wheels and front fog lights. I think it cost around €500 over the standard LX. Xenon headlights, sunroof and 17" alloy wheels would definitely have been ticked on the options list.

Don't bother at all, throwing money at it for no reason, keep your money and buy something nippier later on!

Trust me, I had an lx a few years ago and threw €1000's at it out of stupidity!

Been honest the performance isnt a big deal for me. Just wanna make it abit safer and abit more refined, maybe improve the mpg with a better airfilter

The brakes on them focus's are incredible, haven't hada car since that could stop quicker so I wouldn't worry :)
Fords have always been down mpg wise, not sure what you can do to help it really?

Why not learn to service it yourself man?
If it's out of warranty, keep receipts as proof etc.
Most jobs are very easy once you give it a go you'll be sorry you left it this long :)

Spark plugs are like changing out bolts man :)
Once you have something to catch the oil like a 5 litre can with the side cut out your away! Honestly you'll service your car for €50!
    I'm servicing my 530d that needs 8.3 litres for €70-80 a go :)
