Apologies if there's an existing discussion in here about it.
Never used a foam roller before up to a couple of weeks ago but bought one cos I picked up an injury in my right calf and decided to try it out.
After about a week the problem pretty much cleared up but while I was rolling the right calf I decided to do the left one too with the result that I know have a problem in my left calf.
I suppose my question is should I have only used the roller on the problem area/should it only be used on problem areas, should I continue to use it now on the problem left calf?

Can't see how it would cause damage. Rule of thumb for them is if it hurts then you need to do it more.

Sorry for jumping in ooter. but I have a question too if you don't mind.
I'm looking at getting a foam roller and just wondering if there's any difference in them all regarding hardness/foam density ect... Is "The grid" a better option or are they all more or less the same??

    Thanks rom.
The initial injury hurt like hell when I first used the roller but it got a lot better over the following days.I'll go at it with the roller over the next few days.
The one I got was recommended for calf problems martyboy, there are harder ones available apparently.
Don't know anything about the grid to be honest.

The grid would be better than a normal foam roller simply because they hold their shape so they last longer as they don't have a foam core but there are much cheaper alternatives which are just as good. I know Elveries were doing their own brand recently which is about 20e cheaper or if you can get your hands on it a slit of wavin pipe does the job just as good
