Lads I'm driving a little 2000 focus. The nct is way over due. I'm not sure what work she'll need but if it's a lot I might just scrap or sell it on. I know for a fact it'll need tyres.

Do you think I'd be better off throwing it in for nct and see what happens or buy new tyres for it before hand? or get a pre nct check on it?

If the tires are so bad that they will fail the NCT then change them. The minimum thread depth is 1.6mm which is nothing.

Other than that, forget pre NCT checks, the NCT will do that for you. Just check bulbs and usual stuff and put it through.

Throw it in for an nct.

If it fails at least you have an nct fail sheet and it'll make it a hellova lot easier to sell and quicker.

Run it through the NCT. Fix things that are obvious (Lights, tears on driver seat, tyres, etc) Then you'll have the fail sheet. From that you can just drop it into a mechanic and ask him how much it would cost to fix the lot (assuming it fails of course)

I think the cv joint needs replacing on the passenger side and the air bag has been on for the last few weeks.

I'll have to at least get the air bag light sorted..
