It all sounds very strange. Who was supposed to be responsible for the child while he was here? How did this set up with this guy come about? Did he misrepresent himself to arrange the stay or just snatch the child? The real host family couldn't take the child temporarily due to a confirmation - but who arranged the alternative and who came up with these apparently fake names?

Thank feck for that. I read it twice and couldn't make head nor tail of it. I thought I was being thick.

I still have no idea how this came about. Remind me not to send my kids on any exchanges based on this system. Host family can't keep the wean so a random German gets them instead. Sounds like a horror film.
