Cheap flights Shannon/NYC in July?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to book a flight from Shannon to NY for my daughter for the first week of July (dates flexible, but ideally before the 4th!), returning about 3 weeks later.

Best offers I'm seeing at the moment are around €645 via youbookit.net, or £507 (€605) via cheapflightsdeal.co.uk. That's with US airlines, to Newark (which suits better than La Guardia or JFK) with a two-hour stop in philly. Gohop, ebookers etc. are all working out about €100 dearer, and the airline's own website about €200 dearer.

Any tips/recommendations? Or is that about as cheap as I'm gonna find for that time of year...? Should I wait for better offers after Christmas, or do I risk having fewer options for not much savings...

    TIA for any wisdom.

Price United to Newark, Aer Lingus or Delta to New York JFK.

No such thing as "cheap" in July but might also be worth checking Aer Lingus, United, Delta or American Airlines from Dublin to JFK. Could be cheaper as there is more capacity.

You will always be looking 500-600 for this time of year couldn't see much cheaper.

If it is at all possible date wise, look to have her flying out at least a week before July 4th. Not only is it the busiest (and therefore the most expensive) time of the year to be flying, the 4th falls on a Friday next year. So a lot more people will be flying than if it holiday fell on a weekday. Prices will reflect that.

    Cheers, lads.

We're in Limerick, so direct from Shannon is by far the easiest and cheapest option. I take your point about the dates and will see if she can go a bit earlier...
