Just looking for a bit of advice on colour. You'll see the kitchen in the attached photo. The table and chairs are just a plain wood and I want to paint them, but I can't decide on what colour to go with the kitchen. Don't want to go with just a cream or white, because there's enough of that in the kitchen already.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

What about staining it with a walnut colour it would work really well with cream kitchen.

Alternatively if you didn't want to go to the bother of painting it you could just get a really nice oil cloth and they come in all sorts of colours and patterns and they are cheap so easy to change. With the neutral colours in your kitchen you could get away with any colour greens, blues, reds.

I did that myself with my own kitchen table as I was afraid I would make a mess of the painting and it has really brightened up my room

Another option to painting your table and chairs is some colourful wall art for your very bright walls. Go for large-ish sizes of prints in frames.
You would be surprised how that will bring some umph into your kitchen and the dining furniture won't look half as bland.:)

Personally I'd paint the back wall to bring colour to the kitchen I painted one wall wine red and got seat covers and table mats to match

Are you talking about the wall over by the window? I have thought about painting one of the walls a different colour. The one on the left side of the photo, is actually twice the length of the photo, as I'm only getting part of the kitchen in. Possibly too much wall for an accent colour. On the other hand, the wall on the right hand side of the photo isn't as long and may be an option.

I'm open to all ideas. Just to put in perspective, I've attached a picture of the kitchen before I started work on it. All I've done, is paint the cupboards, change the door handles and install spot lights.

You have done a great job brightening it up the units painted cream really modernise it.

If I were painting an accent wall I would do the wall above the sink it's small but would add a lovely pop of colour without narrowing the look of your room. Then like another poster said get a nice piece of wall art a canvas or painting hung over your kitchen table that includes the colour of your accent wall. You could add more pops of colour simply with a seat covers maybe a kettle and toaster Argos do a great range of matching kettles and toasters in lots of colours.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the wall around the window would be perfect, if you did a longer wall it would be too much IMHO
As the last poster said you could get a kettle, toaster etc in Argos to match the colour you want (I'd probably personally buy them first and get paint after) plus a print on the long wall & table mats or chair cushions et voila new kitchen at very little cost
