Plugged it out a few days ago to switch the tvs and it hasn't worked since, It says there is no satellite signal. The other 2 boxes in the house are fine. I bought a new wire that connects the box to the dish still nothing i held the backup button and turned it back on to update the system and still nothing. Sky are coming out to have a look on Monday but would rather try fix it myself of I can as they charge to come out :( Any other ideas ?

Can you test the faulty box at one of the other working Sky TV points to narrow the problem down to the receiver or the connection to the dish?

Is there a spare output on the LNB at the dish? Is so can you swap over the faulty feed from the existing output to the spare output.

A point to note, when connecting or disconnecting the co-ax cable connection to the receiver ensure the receiver is completely powered down at the socket

you dont say make of box or if its got 2 feeds. and why buy a new wire?? its quite possible the lnb lead that goes into the box was damaged, you should see a copper bit sticking out, it may have bent as you plugged back in. try as above
