Good necessarily strong reaction by the authorities.

Should serve as a stern warning for anyone that is even remotely thinking of doping.

I'm not sure if a lifetime ban is long enough.

    What an idiot. 3 bans.

He should never have got the opportunity to get 3 bans

It's was the second ban of only 9 months for EPO which I can't understand. Ridiculously lenient...

Is there a standard ban length?

2 years for a first offence and 4 years plus for second (as per WADA code).
He got discretion on the second one for "co-operation".
He also only got a 3 month slap on the wrists for his first offence.

Yep, but you can get it reduced for co-operating with investigators and shopping other people, which is what Di Luca did on that occasion.

I'd led to believe he didn't name names but did tell how he accessed doping products.
What he did to get the reduced ban was a lot e than a certain Texan is offering now (got a lifelong ban for a first (albeit serious!) conviction)
