Do your partial recordings say tech fault 7 ? If so your box is kaput, only option is to replace the HDD yourself (fiddly) or get a new box off SKY, if you phone up and cancel they will prob give you a new one free (12mth contract). If you don't see any fault messages you might get away with a software download (if your software ends in 09 it could be bad as SKY are rolling this one back so switch off at mains hold back up on the box and plug back in until you see the message on screen saying software download in progress) , after that try a planner rebuild or failing both of those do a full reset - both these are via the installer menu, if unsure you can google and will find instructions how ( the latter will wipe all old recordings and is the last stop before a new box so try a rebuild first and see if that solves the problem). If u do have the fault 7 messages though your HDD is most likely already fried but try these steps anyway. If you phone SKY they will talk you through these also

    Good luck

having the exact same issue (2tb hd box) and have done all of the above with the help of a sky phone call but still no joy. gave out to the poor lass on the phone as she was looking for a €100 for a technical callout but after a few mins reduced it to €60. if i got this call out will they replace my box??? or do i have to fork out for a box and the callout??
