Is EI really suing the irish government?

    Yes. They're suing to get passengers money back, no word on whether said passengers will get it back...

    Considering how many flights I made during that period I could probably get a return trip to the states with the difference, not that I imagine it'll ever be seen.

    I believe that EI is suing the Govt for the rebate of the tax. The pasengers didn't actually pay the tax. EI previously stated that they would absorb the tax as they were not happy with increasing fares (as that would drive away their transfer pax)

    When the tax was dropped from €10 to €3, anyone with a pending flight booking with EI was refunded. They admitted it was a passenger paid element of fares then.

    Think I only had one booked that far out but I definitely got the €7 pushed back to the card.

    As stated above back in 2008 AL stated that they would absorb the tax. Therefore no refund for those fares. If the position changed since then its a different matter.
