Phoned Portlaoise today and was told area aid/sfp penalties could be backdated to 2009. Surely this is grossly unfair. It is very easy to have had more than 3% ineligible land. Penalties seem to be much more common with beef/suckler farmers due to the location of their lands in more marginal areas. What with the the recent slashing of factory prices by Goodman and his allies, these penalties could finish off many beef farmers. Non sensible really, would a Dept of Agriculture official today take a pay cut for poor productivity or for undocumented sick days in 2009.Its time for the IFA to make a stand or do they care about the suckler farmer?

I had a ground inspection a few weeks ago and the inspector told me that they are really only back dating where the claim was an obvious overclaim , i.e claiming for bare rock or lakes etc.

I got a letter a couple of weeks ago about an overclaim. On the map they had red circles around bushes that I had gathered from cleaning ditches around the farm. There was 4 piles of bushes in total.they were there a couple of years. No one to blame only my self for not burning them. Also I have an avenue running through a couple of fields that leads to an old house that Is in ruins. It is so over run with grass that when I cut the fields I cut over the avenue as well. They had that marked in red as well. This week I got another letter telling me that they have back dated the overclaim to 09.They took nothing off me for 2010 ,don't know why but it amounted to 518 euro in total.they said I can appeal
