Im just looking on your opinions on Marrakech, Morocco as a destination for myself and my girlfriend? We are both 24 and id be getting it as an xmas/birthday present! Travelling in April sometime!
Id appreciate it if anyone who has been here could spread some light on the place?
    Thanks for your help

I've cut and pasted this from a review I wrote some years ago, and posted on Trip Advisor. I've removed references to where we actually stayed, but left other references in. I expect prices have gone up since I was there!

    Highlights

The arrival, involving a walk through the Jemaa el Fna and into the Souks was quite wonderful, with all the bustle, and the smells from the spice stalls.

Dinner in Dar Yacout was great fun - and although the price of Dh700 is quite steep, it does include all the drink, which in our case was at least a bottle of wine each. They just keep filling up the glasses, and we never said stop!

Just wandering around the Souks. It took me from Tuesday to Friday before I could find my way back to the Riad without first having to find Jemaa el Fna (and I couldn't always do that).

Our day out to Imlil, and Kasbah Toubkal was unforgettable, and lunch on the verandah, under a clear blue sky, with the snow-topped mountains all around, was wonderful. If I never sit on a mule again, I won't complain!

Were there any low points? Just one. Despite a booking having been made in Casa Lalla for dinner, and made a month before we left, it was cancelled, at six hour's notice, without any word of apology or explanation, then or since, by the owner of Casa Lalla. He must have got a better offer. We enjoyed our dinner in Foundouk that night, instead.

Marrakech was the most magical and wonderful place I think I've ever visited. and our stay in ... contributed in no small way to feeling that way.

    2013

My memories are still so clear. It's an amazing city. We were actually there in February and it was pleasantly warm even then.
