New Seiko watch SNDE27P1

Hi, I'm going to purchase a 'decent'(?) watch very soon, within a budget of between €100 - €200.

The fact it is reduced from €350 to €165 is very tempting, but then again would there be any concerns about buying a watch in argos?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't worn a watch in over 4 years, but I'm just sick of using my phone as a timepiece now.

I'd have no problems buying a watch from Argos as opposed to any other retailer. Their RRP seems optimistic though to say the least; 160 still seems high enough for what it is.

Remember you may be stung for customs from those site above, but they're both reputable and it'll still be cheaper than buying in Ireland.

Smart looking watch, and compared to fashion watches in the same price range, I think Seiko are very hard to beat.

Thanks Eoin, my god can't get over how cheap you can buy that watch for online.

Do you think that when argos is saying that the watch was reduced from €350 it's only a gimmick?

My only gripe with buying a watch online would be where would I take it to get the links adjusted to suit my wrist size?

Yeah, it's sort of a sales gimmick. Amazon are divils for it as well, especially with watches. Example.

Now there's nothing wrong with that Seiko at all, but your money would go much further with regards to the RRP they're quoting.

Any jeweller can do that for you; but it's dead easy to do yourself if you're inclined.

It's normally just a case of pushing out a couple of steel pins in the bracelet, discarding a link or two, and then pushing the pin back in between two links. I've done it recently to 2 Seiko watches, and I am by no means handy with watches.

A couple of us here bought a Seiko from Rakuten in the last week or so. I used a NI address and got stung for VAT and clearance fees totalling £30 whereas the boardsies who used ROI addresses got their parcels 'sans tax'. Nevertheless, I am really pleased with the watch.
