Am I reading your post correctly? You want to work as a forklift driver but you are afraid to drive a forklift because you saw a few youtube videos? How do you leave the house in the morning with your fear of the unknown? A quick google search shows a load of training companies and as far as i know if you have been unemployed for a while FAS/Solas have a E500 training allowance available for you to avail of so long as you gain a recognised qualifaction. As for wages it would be minimum wage and upwards depending on experience and the nature of the job.

Echoing the poster above, it's minimum wage upwards depending on experience. I've been on forklifts for about 15 years now, having always worked in warehouses since school. I love it as a job.

Having a big fear doesn't mix well with operating heavy machinery but if you do a course and turn that fear into being careful and safe then you might well enjoy it.

You need to get a Technical Employment Support Grant form from the department of social protection to be completed by you and the training provider. When you get the approval letter you give it to the training provider and they submit it with an invoice to be paid.
