Leased land County Galway

    Hello,

I've been trying to lease some agricultural or forested land in the Galway area for some time with no success. I would consider anything but the options are few and far between. There's no shortage of old farmsteads, or land for sale in Galway, but for rent not at all. I'm hoping to move into an old farmstead in the county on a rental basis.
I understand from reading threads the going rates in this part of the world and no problem with that, but can't find any available plots. Where would one find information concerning renting renting old farms? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

I've been told that if you put an offer in to rent on some of the properties that are up for sale they'll take the offer. Houses in the country aren't moving, there's too many so if a house has been on the market for a while they may be desperate enough to rent until they sell. The problem being they could sell the house from under you if the market turns.

Another thing to keep in mind is a many farmers have their bit of land purely to qualify for grants and no matter how disused it looks they won't let it go because it's pulling in money for them.

Have you had a look at the farmers journal yet? That would be a place to start.
