Why on earth are you buying it from them? Horribly overpriced and underwhelming. Your €500 would probably go an awful lot further on HWVS or even Amazon.

im buying from them as i need it by xmas and they said they could deliver. didnt think hwvs would make it in time and i wouldnt even know where to start on amazon as i havent had a proper pc in over a decade and really dont know what im looking for. i need 2 of them for my 2 boys so if you know of something on amazon i could trust id be very grateful :) reckon i could build it myself as im sure its easier than last time i built one years ago thanks for the reply :)

If the parts are in stock on HWVS you'll have it in 4-5 working days. And payment by bank transfer takes 1-3 working days (1 for me). And you'll save about €100-€200 on each PC.

that would be great just a bit nervous about missing something i need for the build like thermal paste etc.. would anybody be kind enough to recommend a list of parts? meanwhile i shall search the forum and see if there is anything close to what im looking for. just nervous about missing out a part etc

Thermal paste is pre-applied on the stock intel fans. Aftermarket coolers require you to apply it but they are only needed for overclocks.
There's plenty of great guides on youtube to help you:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPHCBWayEsY
And plenty more (Search for one with your motherboard or case for example)

I recently built one just by following the guides and got on great so I'm sure with your past experience you'd be fine.

was looking at this build , i have taken the second optical drive off as i dont think i need it? it doesnt have a graphics card so i should probably spend the rest on that? also any other criticism would be most helpful :)

Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s hard drive
    LG GH24NS bare schwarz dvd
    ASUS PCE-N15 network adapter
so this is what im looking at for E487.09 . Ive saved some money by not getting an operating system as it looks like i can download a trial on my old pc and burn a dvd,at least i hope i can! will get a validation code in january. also getting them to build as its only E5 extra. Does this look ok or is there anything i should change? just want them to be able to download off steam and play new games as they love their c.o.d etc but also want to play pc games like kerbal space program etc, as an example would this be ok for skyrim? doesnt have to be on high settings as long as it plays smoothly , thanks in advance :)

Yeah that GPU would run Skyrim on ultra easily. And you can get a Windows 7 OEM for only €40-€50 on Amazon.

excellent , thanks for the help, one more thing, if i did this all thru geizhals.de to save the extra i presume i would build it myself but do you think it would affect the delivery time? with xmas coming im on a tight schedule

Not sure what you mean. Would building it yourself affect delivery time? Or using geizhals? Geizhals won't slow it down at all you just get everything a bit cheaper.

yeah i meant thru geizhals , thats great , thanks for the help, youve made my wallet a whole lot happier :)

No problem. Yeah only thing about geizhals is you can't get it built by them but everyone recommends to do it yourself and it's enjoyable!

Oh your case has a built in PSU. Don't get that they are usually cheap junk. Something like this case and that PSU would be good. And save yourself a tenner with this RAM that is less fancy looking :P

Just did the build up there with the new parts I mentioned, comes to €504 without Geizhals so you should be just under 500 with Geizhals and Postage.

For me everything that was out of stock came back in 1-2 days but you can go for corsair 500w or sharkoon wpm500 to name a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭newjabba

nice, that built in power supply was only 350w so im glad you noticed that :)

Yeah and it probably wouldn't even be a legit 350w either :P

PSU definitely the last place you want to cheap out on!

I wouldn't be recommending hwvs if you need it urgently - stock is a bit of an issue with them imo.. They only start picking for the order once funds have landed in their account, which can take a few days. In which time who knows how stock levels will have changed

For me I paid on Monday evening with AIB bank transfer by going into the branch inatead of doing it online (Not sure if if this speeds it up). Payment was received Tuesday morning and posted at about 4PM. It arrived in Dublin on Friday morning. If you're in a rural area like me it will most likely take an extra day.

If you can only spend about €50-60 on a processor you be better off with a Haswell pentium than the A6 APU. Its a better CPU and much more upgradeable than FM2 will be in years to come.

Yeah I was going to post saying don't get the 6400k, really bad CPU for games. You can save another 20 quid on that 7870, there are plenty other good models for 150-160 on the same site. CPU wise, I would get an Fx6300, its worth going over budget for in the interests of having a well rounded machine. Even if it means only getting 4gb ram for now and adding another 4 down the line if you cannot afford the extra cost. Adding another 4gb of ram is painless. Having to swap out the CPU is much more of a hassle and ideally, the core of every new build should be a decent CPU in my opinion.

It's also possible to save another 10-15 euro on PSU with something like this, still reliable and plenty for a 7870 build.
