Scrapping a car

Hi, I am hoping to scrap my car in the next week or so. It's not worth repairing. I have seen some adverts in Done Deal where companies are looking to buy any car and will pay regardless of condition plus will collect.

Was thinking of giving these a try before dropping it off at scrap yard. By the way, it's an opel corsa, last one I had got me a grand total of €30 at scrap yard in Galway!!

I am hardly ever around at weekends and don't want people calling around to my house at night to see it, so don't want to advertise it for sale as it's not worth the hassle for the amount I would probably get.

Has anyone any experience with dealing with guys like this? Do they offer a fair deal and will they issue a certificate of destruction?

    Thanks

you must insist (as you know) on that cert of destruction OR sell it to someone and make sure it gets put into their name. It's worth a good but more than €30, at least €100 (or more if you were wiling to advertise it)

I have no knowledge of the the "we buy any car" guys...I'd suspect there may be some dodgy characters in that field

    Is car driveable?
Personally I'm wary of those "buy any cars" people but you can ring or mail city council, they have a facility
