Wedding venue search

    Hi all,
we've taken the engagement plunge and now after what will hopefully be a relatively short engagement we're on the lookout for a wedding venue. Is there a list here on boards (that I've missed) or somewhere else covering the most popular venues and approximate costs per head?
We're looking for somewhere budget-friendly for 100 guests, possibly all-inclusive, in the east or north of the country.
Searching online for wedding hotels is quite overwhelming once you realise how many there are! It would be nice to narrow that list to ones within our budget that people rate well.
    Thanks

you can get a list of hotels very easily broken down by region from most of the commercial advertising sites like weddingsonline , hitched.ie or mrs2be. they break it down by area.

Price is a different ballgame. youll know from clicking around what the going rate is. places like ballymagarvey or tankardstown are 100e per head plus.

rule them out if theres no budget for them.

Theres value hotels on the other end of the scale.

Do your maths and set your budget, lets say its 50e a head. click the websites from the list you compiled above and get an idea from them what price range theyre in. Narrow down the list.

Then ring them and ask for availability. youll get a final list of 8-10. Pick a weekend and drive around to them all. They'll all be nice, some nicer then others. Narrow your list down to 3 or 4.

Then go looking for recommendations online but your gut instinct based on the venue will tell you a lot here. Very few hotels have bad reviews so youll just want your instincts confirmed.

    What kind of budget?
What kind of preferences do you have?
    Rural or urban location?

I highly recommend the Clanard Court Hotel in Athy, Co. Kildare. We got married there recently and they were lovely to deal with, the food was delicious and the staff are great!

They have a package for 100 people for €4000. Definitely worth a look imo. http://www.clanardcourt.ie/wedding-packages-kildare.html

Best of luck in your venue hunt either way :)

    Hi all.

Just enquiring if you have any details available on getting married abroad?
I am from Co.Mayo but lived in Manchester the last 8 years. Just got engaged this week to my lovely soulmate. A Dream come true the entire experience. My other half is Manchester born to Irish parents. We spend a lot of time over and back to Ireland and we love it as its my home and my partner is very Irish too from his background and upbringing. All my family are in Ireland etc. But I really want to get married abroad about 70 people I imagine maybe slightly more and do it in Lanzarote or somewhere nice. I have no clue on pricing etc. We are aiming for August 2015 but this can be changed. We don't want to spend much more than 10k on the whole lot and that's going to the max. Ideally id like to spend 8K on it all.

    Any ideas from anyone????

    wanting a catholic church too

Contact a travel agent, a lot of them can book you a package with the wedding included. They can also advise on what documents you need for the legal side of things.
