Leaving CW at 18.00 and need to get to Dungarvan by public transport.

    a-b.ie says it's not possible!

There is a Waterford bus which stops at Red Cow around 17:45. Getting seated onto it at Red Cow may be a challenge.

There is an 18:35 train from Heuston which will get you there in time for the Dungarvan bus at 21:00; getting in to catch it may be tight but in theory, it's possible.

Any way you can nip out an hour early?

No, 18.00 is the earliest, which rules out the last bus.

Train leaves 12 minutes to get from the train station down the quay to the bus station, to get the last bus. Assuming it runs bang on time. It's too risky.

I'd think that connection is too risky to be honest.

As you've spotted, the last bus from Waterford to Dungarvan is 21:00.

Your only option really is bus to Waterford and taxi from there.

The 18.35 train and 21.00 bus is fine, I always take it and very rarely miss it. The train arrival is always very varied and arrives between 20.42 and 20.48 but majority of the time its on time or before.

Even if its on time, you will be at the bus station within 5 minutes.

Might be an idea to look at IE real time and watch out for the 17.35 and 18.25 (up) services, generally if the 17.35 is delayed by 3-5 minutes it normally screws things up and delays the 18.35 but that only around 5 minutes in Kilkenny where they cross but if the 18.35 leave Kilkenny on time at 20.13 you will make it, they have a few minutes between Muine Bheag to make up time.

The arrival time into Waterford includes recovery time. You are likely to get n a few minutes earlier than that so you will be fine. Still, it's getting onto the train in the first place that's a tighter connection.

If you want some extra time at the Dublin end, get a taxi to Clondalkin Fonthill or Hazelhatch & Celbridge station. You will need to change trains at Newbridge. You could also arrange to have a taxi waiting for you in Waterford.

The solution was to take the car.

Just remember to have 60-70 euro with you!

JJ Kavanaghs bus from Heuston or Red Cow Luas stop at 6.15-6.30pm gets into Waterford and stops at the Bus station at 8.45pm, Otherwise the train from Heuston at 6.35pm.
