All in One or Not?

    HI,

Am thinking of getting a new PC for my father. He's not a huge user of the net, just basic surfing etc.

I've seen some of the new all in one desktops about recently and like the look of them and in particular the touch screen element of them.

What are people's opinions on these? Would I be better off getting a regular desktop or is there a good, reasonably priced all in one about?

I've never used Windows 8 before so I'm not even sure if this is the nest option.

I bought a lenovo all in one 2 years ago with touch screen, never had any probs with the pc, still very happy with it, but I never got the hang of the touchscreen, drives me mad with wrong programs opening and stuff.. and flies can also interfere with it, ..I use a wireless mouse with it now.

My niece got a Dell Inspiron One 2330 earlier this year. It is very neat and tidy, looks good, nice display, works well, and she is happy with it.

Touch on a large desktop monitor (at normal placement and angle) is nowhere near as comfortable to do as it is on a tablet or laptop. She almost always uses the mouse.

Thanks for the replies folks, pretty much confirms what I was thinking myself lately. The all in one is very neat but the touch screen seems like an unnecessary luxury on this item.

Now to find the best value for money..........
