Night luas Green Line

Night Luas trams will run on the Luas Green Line from St. Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen at 1.00am, 1.30am, 2.00am, 2,30am, 3.00am and 3.30am on:


* Friday December 13th
* Saturday December 14th
* Friday December 20th
* Saturday December 21st
* New Year’s Eve Tuesday December 31st

To use Night Luas you require a Night Luas ticket; there are three options for Night Luas tickets:

1) Buy your Night Luas ticket from a Luas Ticket Vending Machine for €4.00

2) Use your Luas Leap Card or Smartcard and pay a fare of €3.80

3) Use your 30 Day Luas Ticket, Annual Luas Ticket, Annual Bus / Luas Ticket or Annual Rail / Luas ticket. No other tickets are valid.

You must buy your Night Luas ticket BEFORE travelling. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Luas!

Dublin Bus wishes to advise customers that a Saturday Timetable will operate on all bus routes (excluding Nitelink/Tours) on the following dates in December, Tuesday 24th, Friday 27th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st .

DARTs after midnight pre-Christmas & late night NEW YEAR'S EVE DART, Maynooth, Drogheda trains

DART services are to run after midnight this weekend in the run-up to Christmas.
The extra DART services will operate as follows:
Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December:

• 00.30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth
• 00.35 from Pearse serving all stations to Malahide
• 00.30 from Connolly serving all stations to Bray.

UPDATE - NEW YEAR'S EVE TRAINS CONFIRMED, INCLUDING DART, DROGHEDA & MAYNOOTH
Late night services will operate after the New Year's Dublin Festival events, for DART, Drogheda and Maynooth line customers.
In response to customer demand, and to allow people enjoy the full city centre event, the late night services will operate at the following times on the night of New Year’s Eve:
01:30 from Connolly serving all stations to Bray
01:30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth
01:40 from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth
01:45 from Pearse serving all stations from Howth Jn to Drogheda (including Clongriffin, Portmarnock and Malahide on the DART line)

New Year’s Eve customers should also note that regular services will operate up to 21.00hrs approximately before resuming at 01.30hrs. Full details of times are available by searching the journey planner above.
For pre-Christmas and New Year's Eve late night services, fares will be charged at normal DART and Commuter rates, and customers can use Leapcard in the Short Hop zone for the cheapest Christmas travel option. Furthermore, holders of weekly, monthly and annual season tickets will be able to use the service at no extra charge.

All late night services will have security personnel on board to ensure customer safety.
If there is strong demand, Iarnród Éireann will examine the possibility of expanding the service in future years, both in terms of frequency, and in terms of more destinations, such as Greystones on the DART and other Commuter routes.

Just to clarify - modified Saturday services are operating on the dates above (as outlined below).

Let's be honest, operating the full service was complete overkill in earlier years - buses were going around in the early morning carrying thin air due to the far lower loadings.

Added to that buses were arriving at points along the route far earlier than the schedule would have estimated due to the low loadings and non-existent traffic. This had implications for RTPI (buses which had not departed yet or were only departing would arrive earlier at points along the route than the predictions would suggest - they were based on the normal journey times), and also for services that had driver changes en route - buses were having to wait for extended times mid-journey as they arrived far too early at the changeover point. I took a 16 last year one morning, and despite the driver going as slowly as he could, we arrived 20 minutes early at Parnell Square and had to wait there for the new driver to take over (he in fairness showed up early).

The Saturday schedules during the day for most routes are quite sufficient to meet the demand and will give far more realistic journey times. There are extra early morning services on certain routes to fill gaps - there's probably a few more that they could have added, but by and large it should meet demand.

It's a Saturday service Victor with a few modifications - if people are looking at timetables then they need to be clearly reminded that the Saturday ones are the appropriate one to look at.

Is this the first time Dublin Bus have so clearly explained the last departure times for Chirstmas Eve and New Years Eve?
I recall in previous years the statement was a generic "services cease at 2100" which was far from helpful!
Well done to DB for doing it properly this year, giving final departure times from Terminii and short workings from the City Centre.

I am wondering about what the Bus Eireann service is going to be for NYD, I am trying to book a bus from Carlingford to Dublin on Wednesday , but it wont allow me and moves to Thursday, but here it says Buses are running at a Sunday service http://www.buseireann.ie/news_timetable.php?id=1412&month=Dec#New_Year’s_Day,_1_January_2014_ , I've emailed but am awaiting a reply, can anyone help?

There is no Sunday service on the 161 from Carlingford - only Monday/Saturday.

You'll need to get to Newry and take the X1, or go to Dundalk and get the 100X (scroll down for times).
