Hi guys,

Looking to build a mini desktop in the next month or so. Want a nice little mini pc with enough power to play Rome 2 on medium specs and do some audio editing. Would like an SSD too.

What is your budget? €500 - 600

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming, Rome 2

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Monitor

5. Do you need a monitor? No

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yep, though never tried it before

8. How can you pay? Any

9. When are you purchasing? Next few weeks

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Limerick

Are you looking for mini as in matx or even smaller again mitx?

MITX would be great, but I don't think I'd be able to get the power I want in such a small case. MATX would be better I think.

Can I hop on the bandwagon here... I'm in a very similar situation to you. Came close to building back in May, but held off (damn you car expenses). Now giving serious consideration to building a mini-ITX. Something that looks well in the living room, but will still give me 1080p on ultra settings for Titanfall come next spring... is this possible?

My budget is in line with bigjigwig77s. Would love some advice.

Don't think the graphics card is low profile so doubt it will fit

edit: the case's PSU is probably going to severly limit you. If you are determined to use it you should find out exactly what connections it has. But at 300W don't expect much out of it

I'm in the middle of putting together a MITX build myself, by my calculations it would be about 100 above your budget but I'll put it up anyway and you can get an idea, could easily save on a few parts:

Now firstly I have another normal Sata drive so that's all I needed from the SDD.

But you could definately save on the CPU one of the new i3s would keep you going for ages in my opinion, save the bones of 80-100 on that. I'm not really planning on O/Cing so the 4670k is kinda pointless just got a decent deal on it so decided I may as well.

The graphics card I picked up on offer last week but just keeping an eye out you'd get something that would be up to the task in and around the 100-150 mark.

Finally I bought all that on Amazon because I had some vouchers if you shop around or use HWVS you could well get parts cheaper, I reckon it'll be pretty good bang for the old buck.
