I just cannot get over this , every single one of these deserves to be hosed down with water. People are getting trampled on for a bargain. Well done America.

How is it any different to Irish shoppers queuing for hours before arnotts, opens on st stephens day to get a cheap bed? I know we dont floor each other. But we do that when they announce now boarding on a place.

A woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm after a stampede at a shopping centre over cut-price televisions.
There were also claims that a heavily pregnant woman was pushed and shoved and pensioners were knocked to the ground by frantic shoppers battling to get their hands on Christmas deals at the Asda store in west Belfast.

In fairness, I think there's a difference in scale between here and the US, but for how long?

I'd have more faith in the UK/Ireland governmetns bringing in legislation to protect safety or making stores more repsonsible for infuries incurred during their sales than in the US. Walwart will never allow it over there.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

one report from black fri was 2 people looking at the same bargain, one pulled his gun which prompted the other to pull and knife and to cut the guy to the bone!! wtf?

Yes and if the thread was about global issues, this would not be top of the list.

This thread just goes to prove that the religion of consumerism is well established and worshipped by many, the congregation have been brainwashed into going to the shops to exchange money (which in many cases is borrowed) for stuff that they mostly don't need.

The powers of propaganda at their best, Goebbels would be proud!

Oh spare the bleeding heart, this is a conversation about consumerism, not Rwanda.

What were the be-trampled ones queing up for? The stroke a kitten booth? If you're gonna mix it with the hardcore shoppers, you need to be hardcore. They need to bring some sharper elbows next time. Personally, i'd rather miss the bargain than endure that guff, but if you can't take the heat...

I saw another video of a man literally beating his way through people so he could get a tv. It's shameful that people act like this just to get a few hundred dollars off a no name flat screen. I mean seriously is it that important? He will probably be doing the same next year because his crappy tv didn't last! I am in the US and there were people camped out 4 or 5 days beforehand, ridiculous!

It's not all like that though. I had to get a few things for my trip home so went on Friday afternoon for a look around. Got 50% off my clothes, was busy but no huge crowds or queues, was grand. This stuff seems to always happen in wal mart.

People do camp out in Ireland though don't they? I think they are a bit more civilised when the stores open though

Who would have taught that the guy who brought a knife to a gun fight would come out on top.

Would you be ar5ed tbh? I think bad of waiting 5 minutes in harvey Normans if the assistant is dealing with someone else, I'll just bugger off and come back when it's quieter. I'm not very pushey though.
