You could try contacting Shannon with the VIN, and if it hasn't been reg'd here, the DVLA.

it'd want to be cheap to warrant all the hassle involved with registration/red tape etc...

VAT and duty to be paid?

This is something im trying to find out, i havent bought the car yet, just went to have a look at it last night to get whatever details i could off it, have to find out about vat and duty

Been down this road once before... Yes, vat and duty and vrt had to be paid as it hadn't been cleared here.. It took a couple of visits to customs, some sworn statements at the Garda station, and a ball of money, but it can be done!!!

The two cars I brought over from the states were not allowed leave the docks until vat and duty were paid.

what kind of money would we be talking about if i had to pay vat and duty?

That's what I thought any sensible tax authority would do...

Must be a receipt saying at least the duty/VAT has been paid.

I tend to give these vehicles lacking in solid paperwork a very wide berth.

Yep, but there is no paperwork.

VAT is 23% on the declared cost of the car PLUS 23% on whatever transport costs were involved in getting it here. So that's a potentially blank cheque. Not sure what customs duty is but it's less than 10% on the car cost.

That's a big chunk of money to add on and explains why it might be keenly priced. Maybe a call to the Revenue might be a good idea to get an official opinion.

It's 6+ years since I've done it... but does the VRT office look for all that documentation?
