I posted this in the weird/wacky thread but I'll stick a seperate thread so I can post updates and people can throw their monitors out the window or whatever...

I'm heading to San Francisco tomorrow, taking in 3 games in the space of eight days or so.

    Saturday: Notre Dame @ Stanford.

Somewhat overshadowed by the fact that the Pac-12 championship lineup is set and this game has no impact on that. It would likely have implications for what Bowl game the Cardinal get, it's a sell out, so should be pretty good.

    Sunday: Rams @ 49ers

This is a division game obviously, the Rams are still kind of hanging around the wildcard race and have had a few good wins recently. the 49ers really need the win to keep a hold on the wildcard spot they currently occupy. I think it could be a good game, probably close for 3 quarters before the 49ers hopefully put them away.

    Sunday 8th December Seahawks @ 49ers

When I booked this trip I was really hoping the division would be on the line. It looks like Seattle have the division wrapped up but this game has implications for both teams, as above the 49ers need to stay ahead of Arizona and other NFC teams, while Seattle is looking for playoff home field advantage. More than any of that though this is a huge rivalry game and should have a cracking atmosphere.

Looking forward to all this and hopefully the above games will be pretty special

Also these will be 2 of the last 3 or 4 games ever played at this historic stadium, any questions or advice post below.

Does anyone know if you can take in a Digital SLR to the stadium, cant find any solid info on this.

The last time I was at an NFL game stateside, the Pats were still playing in their old stadium. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty certain a digital SLR still isn't officially allowed. I have never brought mine to any stadium based sporting events. Even Wembely won't allow it. Most SLR's nowadays give you professional quality images and you need a press pass to use one in a stadium. Copyright issues I think also come into play, because you would be an unauthorised photographer.

That's the thing, "professional equipment" is not allowed, and in some places it says interchangeable lenses are not allowed. anecdotally some people have not had any problems but as I won't have the option of just throwing it in the car if I get refused I reckon I'll leave it back at the hotel.

The amount of PC's you've been through, you could've had a season ticket at Gillette by now. :pac:

Great trip with some great game, that 49ers Hawks game will be electric, enjoy!

I don't know about the camera but i do recall a dude on front of me at the Vikings Steelers game in Wembley having one of those cameras with the mad big pervert lenses on it, always paying close attention when the cheerleaders were in our corner. But one pervert doesn't maketh the rule!

    Friday November 29th

Arrived in San Francisco on Friday afternoon, pretty tired and Jet lagged but not much time for that, so a few beers, a bite to eat and off to sleep.

    Saturday November 30th

Gameday number one and off to Stanford. First off getting the train out to Palo Alto and great craic on the train, it's full of Notre Dame fans and the excitement on the train as the Michigan/Ohio state game goes down to the wire is great. Starts off with one guy giving text updates, then people start turning on their radios before finally Michigan score and decide they are going for 2 for the win, they don't convert but great craic on the train.

It's a nice day in Palo Alto, T-Shirt weather and the tailgating is in full effect. Time to grab some beers and a bite to eat, before settling in to watch some of Alabama v Auburn. not a huge amount of interest in this game but there are a few watching.

Into the 3rd quarter and it's time to leave as we are getting close to kickoff. In the stadium and its obvious there are a lot of Notre Dame fans, maybe 30% in there. In my corner section it is mainly Notre Dame fans.

About 20 mins in and the announcer calls that anyone who doesn't want to know the result of the Iron bowl to cover their ears and look away from the jumbo tron. They show that final play and there is a great crowd reaction to Alabama losing like that.

The Stanford game itself was cool, Stanford ran all over Notre Dame but could never put them away but every time Notre Dame looked like coming back Tommy Rees would throw an interception, all in all a good game with a good atmosphere, but a great experience overall.

A few beers in downtown Palo Alto before heading back on the last train to San Francisco.

I'll post a bit on the 49ers games in due course.
