recently bought a garmin 500 and ive a quick question for fellow garmin users.
(possibly a stupid question) but should the arm on the speed sensor be facing up or down?
just wondering what's the best way to set up the screen pages? currently on pg 1 i have
    speed
    cadence
    gradient
    heart rate
    elapsed time

    on page 2 i have
    avg. speed
    max hr
    total assent
    temperature
    time of day.

i currently dont have a power meter.

just wondering what way everyone else sets up their garmin? is there something else i should put on screen to monitor my rides.

as for the arm i have mine down but i have seen people who have it up, your decision. as for the pages put whatever you like on them but put the most useful stuff on page 1

The speed sensor can go either way (and may only work properly one way).

In terms of data fields, if you use the lap function you could include lap speed, distance, time etc

    Screen 1:
    Speed
    Heart rate
    Cadence
    Distance
    Journey Time

    Screen 2:
    Time of day
    Ave. speed
    Max Speed
    Ave. heart rate
    Ave Cadence
    Paused time

Any other combo is wrong! :D

I have my speed sensor facing down. Only reason I reckon it is less likely to get damaged if it gets a whack off the wheel magnet. If you were to break a spoke then it will deflect off it better if the sensor is facing down (unlikely, but that's my 'logic' anyway).

Trial and error. Adjust accordingly when you find what you check most.
