If you spent years in college and earned a PHd (other than in medicine) would expect people to call you by Dr. ?

No. But if it was a PhD I might.

I have a PhD and only used the Dr title about 3 times in twenty years on official documents. It has been used many times on reports and papers alright but never in personal life. An odd friend will address stuff using it just for the craic. My late mother was proud to refer to it, as I was the first of our family to go to college so I didn't begrudge her that?

I might stretch as far as Doc
With a subtle undertone of contempt and mockery.
And occasional throw in inverted commas gesture as I say it

Hell no, unless I was an actual medical doctor then nope.

Yes, and I'd also expect them to use every single post-nominal letter after my name when addressing me.

Oh they must bow to me too

I would like to be addressed as Doctor - 'Dr. Fox'

Not really pushed about 'Dr' but 'professor' sounds kinda cool.

I have a PhD but I don't work in the field of my research any more. So I don't use the title. If I was still in my field, then yes, I would feel entitled to use it.

I did get it put on some official documents though, as I wanted to get a little kick from it after the years of hard work to get it.

Yes ill expect it! Ill also want people to bow before they say it.

I always refer to my peers that have a PhD as Dr. All that work they deserve the title I think.

    Only during sex.

Or if I were attempting to impress the pants off some lass. My knowledge of anatomy is piss-poor though and it's not often that an offer of the integral of 2x between 10 and 13 will make a girl weak at the knees. Especially if she does maths...
