Have a funny problem with 2010 Mazda 6 TS2. Has Built in Bluetooth for phone which has been great up until last couple of weeks. Normally only incoming calls register with the car, then radio shuts off and I press button on steering wheel to answer call.

Now when I get a text or mail notification a boom sounds goes through car speakers and all the preset radio channels get wiped out. Any ideas as to what's happening here. Have changed nothing or had nothing done to car prior to this happening

That car could still be inside warranty or at least worthy of some goodwill by the dealer, so go there as soon as possible and register your complaint. In the meantime keep an eye on here for suggestions... I haven't a clue!

Outside warranty and definitely no good will forthcoming based on a previous incident unfortunately

In my experience the only time the radio ever lost a pre-set on mine was when the battery was disconnected. I'd start by checking the connections at the back of the radio to make sure one isn't lose.

As for the ring tones coming through - I had that at times. Depended on the phone profile at the time I think.

I thought that at first but the lights are not affected, neither is the console clock.

The clock is a seperate connection onto the display on top of the dash. Doesnt go through the radio at all.

It's a pain in the backside to get at in the 6. If you haven't done it before I'd take your time. It's easy but most of the dash and centre console has to be removed to get at the back of the radio.

    Hi,
First of all,i am not here to answer your problem.sorry abt it.

I would like to know your experience on 2010 mazda 6 2.2d.I am planning to get one myself{possibly sport version}.Its a stylish, sporty drivers car.apart from that, any troubles with car, like engine.Have heard somewhere in boards.ie that mazda 6 has engine problems, mostly written off.
Whats your opinion abt mazda 6 ?How much mpg will you get combined and on city?
should i look anything special when i look out to buy this beautiful car?
Currently on nissan xtrail 2.0,140hp petrol, mpg is one main concern as i travel a lot.currently on xtrail 9-10 km/litre.
Hz the wind noise on mazda 6,read on reviews

Sorry too many questions, but looking forward for your valuable input(mainly engine and mpg)

    Cheers

If you're asking about city mpg then of all diesels out there the Mazda 6 should be the one taken off the list first. If town driving is most of its use you're just asking for trouble if you don't check the oil level weekly or if you're not prepared to get it serviced regularly as the oil level rises (diluted with diesel) if a dpf regeneration is not completed meaning the oil won't do its job and the engine will go bang eventually.

The Mazdas definitely seem to be the worst of the lot for DPF issues due to as MuppetCheck correctly points out the way the Mazda DPF does its thing.

However its worth noting that DPF diesel cars generally don't get along well with driving that's mostly in town as they don't get a chance to regenerate properly.

Mazda are definitely the worst of the lot in this regard - most other makes from what i can see - the DPFs can cause trouble but not usually complete engine failure - unlike the Mazda.

In saying that - the 2.2 is supposed to be better in this regard - but the issue with the oil been diluted with diesel due to regenerations - still happens on the.

Had posted about my experience with the 6 previously. The conclusion of the thread below is that Mazda would not fix it under goodwill because I took it out of their dealer network by brining it in from UK. No one but Mazda touched this car but the used this not to honour goodwill. I took it as far as the UK customers services manager with no luck.

Engine was rebuilt and I have not had any problems since, apart from the one posted in this thread. The reason the original problem occurred according to guys that fixed it here was that the Mazda garage in UK where it got 50k service missed something very obvious with the oil levels. Makes the fact Mazda didn't fix under good will all the more annoying.

In spite of all the above the 2.2 TS2 163bhp model I have is glorious to drive and in looking into similar problems with this particular engine I could only find similar happening in two cases in Ireland and one in Sweden so I guess I was just unlucky

Very poor attitude by Mazda if the car was only ever serviced by Mazda dealers and all services were carried out on time.

My view is that if a Mazda dealer made a mistake - and this was the cause of engine failure - then that would be something Mazda should resolve with their dealer.

So Mazdas first priority should be look after the customer - and if they felt the dealer was negligent - then take it up with dealer.

Not the first time ive heard of Mazda been a bit silly about things like this - hence why I will never ever buy a new Mazda even a petrol one.

I doubt Mazda will lose much beauty sleep over that however :(:(:(

10% City, 70% N-Roads and 20% Motorway I was getting about 44mpg. Did about 50k in the year I had it. It was extremely poor around town and some of the N-Roads required a lot of accellerating and decellerating which didnt help due to living in the sticks with bad pot holes to be avoided at the time. That was driven pretty calmly too. Drive it on and it wasnt great. Expect between 850-880km per fill.

I'd say start a new thread it would be better.

Thought it was reasonably comfortable. Mine was on 18s, smaller wheels would help.
