Hi folks. Looking to import the above mentioned but no where on the revenue vrt site can I get a quote or price on vrt for a hilux double cab. Will be used primarily for trailer work and my day job with the odd bit of personal use in between. Do I need to have 3 employees or Smth?

Could be €200 or 13.3% of the OMSP, depending on the year and model

Thanks drummer, it might be a 2002 2.4 D4D vx. So what vrt would that leave me with? What's the story with me needing to give employees pps numbers? Thanks again mate.

As far as I know that would be the lower rate.

I think you can check on the VRT calculator on revenue.ie

Be aware though, you may be spending more importing a hilux rather than just buying an Irish one as they demand an even bigger premium in England and NI than the do here, compared to other pick ups.

the revenue site isn't giving me any calculations for some reason. I'd like to buy here but irish vehicles are dirty and rough hence why I'm going taking one back from UK. I don't mind going older over there for more money. Better than a newer abused one here. I've yet to buy an Irish vehicle. Might move back for six months and let the revenue sick their vrt.

To tax it, you will have to sign a declaration that you will ONLY use it for commercial purposes and you will need to show you need to carry several people with you doing that business. They are hot on crew-cabs.

Thanks for clearing that up. What if I don't need to carry people but the odd time. Strange laws here

you don't have to be carrying the people all the time, only on occasion and for business purposes. Say you were a Plasterer for instance and sometimes on a big job, you took a crew of lads with you

You will have absolutely no problem taxing it if you have a farm. Crew-cabs are the machine of choice for farmers in my area at the moment. Everyone commercially taxed and all get loads of private usage (as the family car) as well as plenty being used for commuting to off farm jobs etc.
