Sky are giving customers a free on demand connector at the moment. It says they normally cost £21.95stg. There was a thread here where sky sold them as an introductory offer for €12.99.
It might be of use to some people out there & and because its free its a BA :).
Ignore the up to 3 months delivery time. My mate signed up yesterday and got a DPD notification that he would have it tomorrow.

Damn, it only works if you've never connected to On Demand via Ethernet before, Ah well!

I got that error message as well, if you call Sky 0818719819 they just send it out to you

Just off the phone there, they wouldnt give me the connector for free at first but eventually there was an agreement that I pay for it now and then my account was credited back the amount taken

    21.95? Aren't they 12.99 euro? And 3 months delivery? A quarter of a year??

I have never connected my Sky box to ethernet and the link above tells me I am not eligible.

My Sky + Hd box is about a year old, but maybe it's not compatible, will check when I get home. It's definitely got "ON Demand" in the menu system.

    Note the Version Number:
    i. If it starts 4F30, 4F31, 9730 or 9F30, your box is compatible with On Demand.
ii If it starts 4E30, unfortunately your box isn't compatible.

It takes a lot of patience to do it, as it does reject it a lot of times & gave up on it one nite & the next morning it worked, so i think its hit & miss, but if you've done everything, just leave it for a while to authorise or find its way eventually.

I found advice for it over at the Satellite forum

Paid the €12:99 or whatever it wasv about a year ago for the device. Well worth the money so if you can get it for free it's a brilliant BA.

I got one earlier on in the year and they are a pain in the hole to get to work but it eventually connected for me. never had the box connected to anything before and didn't have to to get it to work. on demand is really brilliant, so many box sets straight to the tv, great for over Xmas :)

Does taking one of these enter you into a new 12 month contract

No, it doesn't, its just they're way of thanking you for being a loyal customer, for paying too much every month ! :P

Got one of these in the post today - it's tiny! I see they sent me the mini one - not sure if it's much different features-wise to the standard size one though?

That's exactly it, I got a letter through the post telling me I could have one of these for free, I rang them up to ask for it and they said it would take a few weeks but it actually arrived two days later. I plugged it in and it worked first time, there's not really that much on there (yet) so I haven't even used it.

Except that it's not an introductory offer. They are still 12.99.

Takes a while to build up the programmes in it.

I called them yesterday & it was no problem, despite the fact they rejected the request online.

Any way of using this with Netflix?

No, it's not a smart box. It only has Sky's software on it. Buy a cheap Roku for that.
